Vision systems or code readers verify the presence and legibility of these markings, as well as correct carton orientation and integrity.Downstream from the cartoning machine, the linkage line often includes a checkweigher to ensure that each carton contains the correct number of products and inserts. Nonconforming cartons are automatically rejected from the conveyor. Compliant cartons continue to a case packer, where they are collated, loaded into shipping cases, and sealed. Palletizing systems can also be integrated at the end of the line to stack cases on pallets for warehousing and distribution.The entire linkage line is controlled by a centralized PLC or industrial control system, with a human–machine interface for parameter setting, recipe selection, and real-time monitoring.
